Andean Raju Expeditions is an authorized tour operator in Huascarán National Park
We hold an official Tourism Services Contract with SERNANP to operate in the Llanganuco sector of Huascarán National Park, home of Laguna 69 and Nevado Pisco.
Contract N° 07-2025-SERNANP · Huascarán National Park
Your love for nature, reflected in responsible tourism
Exploring the Cordillera Blanca is a transformative experience, but it is also a challenge to keep the park’s ecosystem healthy. Huascarán National Park has established that high-sensitivity and high-risk routes, such as Laguna 69 and Nevado Pisco, can only be done with the 55 tour operators authorized by the park. Andean Raju Expeditions is one of them.
3 reasons why only authorized operators can take you to Laguna 69 and Nevado Pisco
Waste and impact management
These are among the most visited routes in the world. Working only with authorized operators means no trace is left, official trails are used and the fragile Andean ecosystem is protected. Every operator follows a Waste Management Plan audited by Huascarán National Park, and the trash brought down from the mountain is recorded every day.
High-altitude safety
Altitude and sudden weather changes cause frequent medical evacuations at Laguna 69 and Nevado Pisco. Authorized operators must provide accredited guides trained in first aid and evacuation protocols, giving the park better safety control in these areas.
Service quality and fair work
With an accredited agency, the guides, porters and cooks working with you are local people who receive fair pay and work under the standards of DIRCETUR and MINCETUR, Peru’s tourism authorities.
The legal framework behind this rule
This requirement is not isolated. It is based on the Peruvian legal framework that protects the country’s most sensitive Protected Natural Areas:
- Law N° 26834 – Protected Natural Areas Law: establishes that the State must regulate tourism to guarantee the conservation of biodiversity.
- Huascarán National Park Tourism Use Regulations: empower the park management (SERNANP) to decide which routes require mandatory guided tours because of their technical difficulty or ecological vulnerability.
- Law N° 29408 – General Tourism Law: promotes the formalization of tourism services and the registration of adventure tourism providers with official registries such as DIRCETUR.
By choosing an accredited agency, you are not only complying with the law: you become a responsible traveler who helps keep these mountains preserved for future generations.
